Oregon Trail, Back to School: 90's Edition Collection
This design is based on one of my favorite educational computer games, Oregon Trail. It was created to teach school children about the life of a 19th century pioneer on the Oregon Trail. You play the role of a wagon leader and guide your group of settlers along the trail and buy oxen, fix your wagon, cross rivers, hunt, etc. The issue with the game is that it failed to depict Native American perspectives and cultures. The new 2021 version of the game now features playable Native American characters. Developers hired three Native American historians to help design the virtual figures’ appearance, speech and roles. This design is the old school design but something that could have been included to show the realities of white settlers trespassing on the Native land.
